Family Office series: #1 – Navigating your FO journey, for Aspiring FO

Reserved for FBN Members only, the serie is inspired by the “Family Office Navigator” and offers enterprising families a comprehensive, practical and interactive discussions to design a modern family office that considers the complexity of their family, wealth, and enterprise in turbulent times.
In this first episode, we’ll hear from Wouter van Oord-Jansen G4 Chairman Family Council, Van Oord Family. Wouter van Oord-Jansen is currently chairman of VOx, the family association of the Dutch Van Oord Family. As such, he is also non-executive board member of MerweOord, the holding company for the operating business Van Oord, a company with over 150 years of experience as an international marine contractor. The Family association VOx was founded almost 25 years ago with the aim to enhance the cohesion within the growing family Van Oord and the engagement with the Family Enterprise. VOx provides the family with an intensive education-program, different communication channels, philanthropic activities and social events. Many of these activities are done in close cooperation with MerweOord. More than 180 family members, shareholders and non-shareholders, reaching from G3 to G6, are affiliated with VOx.
Moderated by Peter Vogel (IMD), the session is especially designed for “Aspiring” Family Offices. We’ll go through the basis of how to setup a Family Office, learning from the van Oord Family Case and from the key learnings from the Family Office Navigator. An opportunity for participants to reflect on key questions around both the family side (education of the Next Gen, family cohesion, family compensation, philanthropy…) and the business side (wealth planning diversification, active investing, non-family talent, impact investment…).
