In today’s business environment, where the pace of change is accelerating, profit will need to be aligned with purpose. And as more pressure is put on companies to demonstrate their environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) credentials, PwC’s latest Family Business Survey (25% of respondents are FBN members) indicates that family businesses are not assuming a leadership role. However, family businesses are uniquely positioned to lead this change because of their long-term perspectives. Today the message is clear: the time to act is now for family businesses who want to continue to protect their legacy for future generations.
The importance of transparency will only continue to accelerate in a post-COVID world, and we are committed to supporting family businesses in their journey towards achieving their ESG goals.
To that effect we have designed a two-part online discussion:
- In the first session, we will give you a clear picture of the real risks associated with falling behind and how these can be practically assessed. Alfonso Libano, Vice-Chairman, Cobega S.A., will share his perspective and experiences of implementing an ambitious strategy in his own family firm.
- In the second session, we will look at practical solutions and explore the fundamentals of ESG.

Alfonso Libano Daurella
Vice Chairman, Cobega, S.A.Alfonso comes from a family with a long history in the Family Business since the 19th Century. He is Co-Chair of the Executive Board and Vice Chairman of COBEGA, S.A and holds a number of company directorships within the Coca-Cola system, including Director of the Board & Chairman of the CSR Committee of Coca-Cola European Partners (the largest European Coca-Cola franchise) and Chairman of Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, S.L.,(Coca-Cola franchise for 13 African Countries).
At FBN, Alfonso is Chairman of the Nomination Committee, Chairman of the Polaris Committee and member of the Executive Committee of the UN FBSD initiative.
